Analysis

  • Attainment at ‘expected’ for reading, writing and maths is well above national and has been for the last 3 years.
  • Reading and writing attainment remain strong at both the expected standard and at the greater depth standard. Further work is needed on spelling and handwriting.
  • Although attainment in maths at the Expected standard remains strong, there has been a slight dip from the previous year. This is due to the greater numbers of SEND pupils in the cohort this year. The maths Essentials Sequences materials have continued to be a successful tool for planning and teaching.
  • Attainment at the Greater Depth standard for reading, writing and maths has remained well above the national average, significantly so for maths. Again, the strong attainment in maths can be attributed to the use of the maths Essentials Sequences tools and the mastery in which it encourages within each concept.

Analysis:

  • All end of Key Stage results are significantly above national average across all measures.
  • Children’s attainment in writing was well above national average after moderation and we achieved a high proportion (36%) of children judged to be writing at ‘greater depth’.
  • The proportion of PPG children who met the expected standard was significantly above last year’s results (5 out of 7).
  • One SEN child with an EHCP was disapplied from SATs.

Key Actions for 2019-2020:

  1. Improve numbers of children achieving the expected standard in GPV
  2. Improve the numbers of children achieving greater depth in writing.
  3. Achievement of boys, particularly in writing, to narrow the gender gap.
